| | | Conocybe? and Myxo Can anyone help with these two?
The first in grass .
Both cap and stem with a granular surface and the remnants of a veil attached to the edge of the cap. No ring.
My first thoughts were Conocybe but Psathyrella maybe. I will do the microscope work later.
And then a Myxo growing on a stump.
Thanks

Mal | hi Mal
of course both Conocybe and Psathyrella have light brown and dark brown spores respectively, and those gills don't look to have such spores . . .
when you do look at the fungus under the scope, check that it is producing spores . . . last year I was totally thrown by this:
which turned out to be a sterile Psathyrella
I daresay Entoloma is a possibility . . . microscopy would sort that immediately
cheers
Chris

The gills have now turned brown (not quite as dark as in the photo)
The caulocystidia )
Finally the cheilocystidia
The cheilocystidia are not the skittle shape of Conocybe so now I am definitely lost.
