| | yellow rotted log fungus? The torrential rain yesterday has brought this out on an old rotted deciduous log, with and I cant suss this one out - any help please?
Size variable for caps, max about 4cm, stem no appreciable ring, cap a bit brown/yellow, stem and gills appear quite yellow - I thought it was a weird looking velvet shank initially before I looked more closely, but no - and the cap is 'sulcate' I believe is the correct expression for a bit of a fringed appearance.
No smell, not trooping, but a few about on the log.
Cheers
Ken
Plus this, presumably Ceratiomyxa fruticosa on the log too?

| | | Re: yellow rotted log fungus? Yes I saw that David, good pic of such a small fungus by John, but mine is quite a bit bigger - Bisporella are much smaller, .5cm max or so? as I understand! Unless they get them bigger - towards my 2'' cap size???? (not me,the fungus!)
But otherwise, it is such a similar looking critter.
Cheers
Ken

| | | Re: yellow rotted log fungus? Well for one, this is an agaric and not an ascomycete
My best guess for the size and the substrate would be one of the yellow Pluteus species. I'd say this is Pluteus leoninus!

| | | Re: yellow rotted log fungus? Hi Ken
I would suggest Pluteus chrysophaeus. Quite common at this time of year, and it's sister ... Pluteus Leonis

| | | Re: yellow rotted log fungus? Well that's the other yellow one I opted for P. leoninus due to the more intense colouring- possibly a completely unfounded reason |
