| | | Icschnoderma resinosum ?? while sorting through some pictures taken back in march, i came across this, which at the time i took to be an old specimen of Trametes versicolor, so didn't give it to much attention,
having had a closer look at the pics, im now not so sure that is what they are, especially given the size of these,
they were found on previously overgrown, old rotten conifer stumps that had been exposed by path widening work , some had been dislodged by the cutting machine,
the size was around 12 inches across, with one or two upto 18 inches, and were growing at the very base of the stump, almost on the soil,
could they be Ischnoderma resinosum ??, as they seem to fit the description in F.O.S quite well,
both F.O.S & Phillips describe this as rare ?

| | | Re: Icschnoderma resinosum ?? Hello,
did you mean Ischnoderma or did you mean Ganoderma? It is not Ischoderma resinosum, which never gets a crust like this one. Don't know for sure what that might be, a Ganoderma species possibly? Or just Heterobasidium annosum?
best regards,
Andreas

best regards,
Andreas | i don't think it is either Ganoderma or Heterobasidium , as in my (limited) experiance both are much more substantial looking than this,
these are last years fruiting bodies ( or possibly even older?) and are very dry and thin,
in the wab Gallery there are 3 pics of Ischnoderma of which no 3 looks very like it, and in the a-z, the main pic has the same characteristics, although it is not the same colour, but the literature i have says the colour can be rusty brown to black,
they are very like old Trametes versicolor in form, but do not have the zonal banding of T.versicolor and are much larger than the usual t.versicolor
