| | | Re: Coral Fungus? Looks like newly emerging Xylaria hypoxylon.
Was it really that green? or is it a slight colour cast on the image due to the dark location?
Regards

| | | Re: Coral Fungus? The colours are about right. You can see the fern and mosses which are also about the right colours. It was under dense canopy with ash and beech trees but there were a few sycamore in hte vicinity. |

| | | Re: Coral Fungus? There's an old thread were i came upon this last year. the adivice from Myconik was,
Xylaria (probably X. polymorpha) with some kind of ? Penicilium mould on it.
Sometimes (quite commonly) one finds these fruitbodies covered in a white 'mould' - that is a species of Calcarisporium

It might be Dead Man's Fingers ( Xylaria poymorpha) - but I haven't yet seen any that's emerging, that I could positively identify.
Regards

Xylaria poymorpha grows like this, and is generally more substantial throughout its life-cycle. Xylaria hypoxylon is still 'wiry' in immaturity. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
