Looks to be a Russula Sp. and judging by the photo growing in the vicinity of conifers.
Without a look at the gills and stem difficult to be more specific.

| | | Re: ID needed please Yes the area where it was taken has a lot of different trees.i am not good with ID of trees but there are a lot of conifers on our commons along with silver birch ,horse chestnut,Oak etc.Thanks for that.It was a very rich colour and looked nice to eat but I wouldn't know a edible from a poisonous  Ha ha Beryl the only mushies I eat are from the supermarket |

It's a Russula species, possibly atropurpurea from how you describe ... but not certain without further info. Next time you see them, take a shot of the gills as well (without flash) and have a good sniff  ... No seriously, smell is an important charateristic.
