Ken | hi Ken
OK I believe you - I think I know where the 'Tree for Life' area is . . . . (I remember being somewhat upset by the young dead 'memorial' trees - or am I totally mistaken? - it's behind the laneside wall, but you can approach it via the open area near the beck that comes down the hillside?) still an interesting area mycologically - a 'dead' tree to a fungus is after all a source of life . . .
after a little research it seems that Coprobia granulata has been recorded on sheep dung, by mycologists for whom I have total respect, so I shall stick to that name
a key factor is that sheep are also ruminants . . . the fungus has had to pass through all the stages that it would were it to be subjected to the cattle 'abdominal processes' - a lot of dung fungi don't make it that far . . . .
best
Chris

| | | Re: Tiny yellow dung cup ID Quite right on location Chris, this is close to the mature pine wood at Dovestone res (further round the shore towards Binn Green) I mentioned some time ago which is very fungi rich later in the year, that the RSPB give me some concerns over.
Thanks for your help again.
Ken
