| | | Which Earthball? At first sight this was obvious but now I'm not so sure about this early fruiting juvenile specimen (4-5 cm) of a Scleroderma species. Any clues? |

I really think this is S. citrinum; are you in a position to keep an eye on its development?

| | | Re: Which Earthball? Thanks Chris - Good to have my original assumption endorsed! These were on a dry scrubby patch in open meadow alongside a path leading to my favourite pub, so as long as the kickers and pickers don't intervene I should be able to keep an eye on them.

from this I am more convinced it will be (would have been . . . .  ) S. citrinum - no pseudostipe, looks like it will be thick-skinned as well
