Seen at The Hermitage, Dunkeld in Perthshire in April 2009. Each head about 1.25" across. Many thanks inanticipation. Heather |

| | | Re: Mystery Clump of Fungi Looks like an early Hypholoma species. The tapered stem might be significant, but I have no Hypholoma literature to hand so I couldn't go any further. Of course I may be totally wrong anyways |

| | | Re: Mystery Clump of Fungi Hello
Well ... being the ignoramus I am, I shall just write "from the Hypholoma species - early/Sulphur Toft?" .... better to write that than nothing. Unless I'm enlightened further :-) I'm pleased to get any help going. Heather |

| | | Re: Mystery Clump of Fungi Hello,
you can name it "possibly a Hypholoma species", you can also name it "possibly Hypholoma fasiculare" but it might as well be a "Pholiota species" in my opinion. So it is up to you how you name it, but a "correct naming" will not be possible by the picture only, in this case.
best regards,
Andreas

| | | Re: Mystery Clump of Fungi Given the gill image I agree with Andreas. I would probably name this as 'Unknown fungus'. There's just not enough information!

Heather | It's an occupational hazard around these parts Heather, but don't let it spoil your enjoyment
David
Hope I find something in Perthshire next week; Planning to do the Hermitage walk!
