| | black exidia id? Hi everyone, this morning saw some early common ink caps, lots and lots, around an ashtree in damp shade, but later this twig with fungi on was dislodged from an oaktree by strong winds into my garden.
It looks very much like exidia plana, as it seems a bit too rough for witches butter, e. glandulosa.
Quite gelatinous cos of all the rain, it looks sort of sessile , but very short stem seen on some.
Quite hairy top too.
I'm sure ive seen something similar dry and hard, but cant remember what that was ......
Any views or help to confirm or suggest what otherwise this is please?
Cheers
Ken

Looks like no-one's jumping in with a quick response on this one.
For what it's worth, I think your find looks similar to this one of mine, (which was identified on WAB as Exidia glandulosa).
Perhaps others might give a more informed opinion of yours.
Regards
Mike.

| | | Re: black exidia id? Thanks Mike,
I thought it had all gone silent too!
I had a rethink after posting and decided E. glandulosa was most likely - on oak too, which helps a bit - same as yours it looks like, so happy with that.
Cheers
Ken
