| | | Winter Polypore? Am I correct in thinking this is Winter Polypore - Polyporus brumalis?
Found yesterday on a fallen trunk.
Overall size, about 50mm across.

The hairs around the edge of the cap made me think of P. ciliatus (ciliate - fringed with hairs) but the main difference between P. ciliatus and P. brumalis is the size of the pores and if my maths is right from your picture the no per mm fit with P. brumalis.

Mal | Thanks Mal,
Phillips does say of P.brumalis - "glabrous or minutely hairy, especially at the margin", which along with the pore size did seem to fit with this.
With the benefit of your second opinion, I'm happy to log it as brumalis.
