I came across this fine looking fungi.

Looks like a morel.

Can anyone confirm?

Are you sure the one you found is the same species as that image though, which is edible.

I've been looking for them over the past few weeks under Ash and Apple trees with no success.
Is it still a bit too early up here in Scotland?

Took me umpteen goes to upload the image then forgot to attach it - sorry.

Though CapAndBracket managed to track it down

So am I right in thinking this is a morel? good eating yes?....

Morchella elata without a doubt. Poisonous before cooking correctly, and I wouldn't go near that with a fork, it's way past its best. Even the little sibling looks dehydrated.

By the way, it's a fungUS, not a fungi unless you found lots of them, you lucky person you.

Oh, OK OK there are two of them in which case it's these fungi ....
