This is probably Polyporus leptocephalus or P. varius

the smooth underside being the give away, i.e. a hand lense needed to see
a hint of pores.

I thought Polyporus durus when I first saw the photo, but then quicky backtracked because my literature says P.durus has a black stipe, (towards the base), whereas the fungus in the photo doesn't. (Or does the shades of brownish grey this particular specimen has count as black in fungi terminology? - It's no wonder that I can never identify things correctly ).

Hello,

in my opinion this is Polyporus badius.
For Polyporus varius the cap is too dark brown and the stem to robust.

Hello,

I'm still certain that it is Polyporus badius. The only other possible alternativ, Polyporus melanopus, has a never shiny surface, other habit and is occuring in summer and autumn in decidous forest on lime soil, growing apparently on earth, but sitting on burried wood indeed.
