| | | Re: Help ! Mushroom ID Hello,
this is Calocybe gambosa, known as St. Georges Mushroom. It is edible, but I have to declare, that determinations from fotos are always beset with a certain risk and that those determination never shall be used for identifying mushrooms for eating, but only for the sake of knowledge.
best regards,
Andreas

First off, your mushroom looks like it might be Calocybe gambosa, albeit a poor looking specimen.
Secondly, before you even consider eating wild fungi, learn to identify the edibles and the nasties in the field. Lots of reading, lots of field experience and then you'll be safe. I'm not a mollycoddler, but eating wild fungi can be deadly if you do not know what you're doing. On the other hand, it can be a wonderful experience.
Disclaimer over ...and my ID is nothing but a suggestion, so certainly don't act on it

You've had the intial warning about eating fungi not because people are terse
but there where deaths in this country from eating fungi last year (and
probably will be this year)
I don't know where you live but if you can find a local group to join, then you
will learn where/what and when edibles are about (some nice suprises), plus
what is definately to be avoided.
After that fungi become really interesting, take a look through the Gallery or
a fungi book and oh what a world of colour and form they present. enjoy
