Found today, this little fungi was longer in it's "root" down to a buried pine
cone.

With that yellow stipe and at this time of year I would go for Strobilurus tenacellus.

Excellent, i have been thumbing through Phillips and came to the same
conclusion Strobilurus tenacellus, will check spores in the morning.
