| | | Fungi Europaei volumes growing Hello all
I noticed the price of FoS has shot up again for all volumes.
Having used these books almost every other day, some are showing serious signs of fatigue! I'm well tempted to seek permission to scan them for personal / research use.
I see eyebrows twitch with this last statement and also the fact that today is April 1st, but it is a real issue which I'm sure many will have thoughts on.
The Fungi Europaei series is expanding at a fair rate too, with 6 new books in preparation! £2000 should buy you the complete ?? collection
Serious money for a serious science / hobby … Food for thought maybe
John

John | That is certainly a big problem for me, the cost of these books. However bit by bit the internet is filling a few gaps. I just discovered Ascofrance.com which is a useful and developing resource for ascos, with macro and micro photos. And I keep meaning to check out whether I can get free access to Ejournals through the university where I did my degree. I have rights to use and borrow from the library, and I'm sure they have all the books, but 100 miles is a bit of a long way to go ...
John, can't you persuade SHU to have them in their library and then you can have them out on almost permanent loan?

Melanie | Hi Melanie
If only I keep suggesting we should run a Mycology course but they won't listen
I shall have to treat family members to copies of Fungi Europaei for their birthdays and Christmas presents

Food for thought indeed - think of changing your book dealer may be?
I haven't noticed that the prices for the books "Fungi Europaei" have changed! Neither at the editor, nor at all the sellers I know (me included). And the mentioned 2000 BPS are ridiculous! The whole series costs exactly 738 Euro, which is today 671 BPS + S/H. Not included are vol. 2A (supplement of the 1st edition and not necessary) and 3A (included in vol. 3 and therefore not necessary). Even if you add the forthcoming 1A and 11, which might be issued in 2009, then you will have a complete price of appr. 800 BPS.
best regards,
Andreas
