| | | Leaf Growing Fungus - ID Help Please. Found these two today, growing directly on decomposing leaves (Beech or Birch - couldn't tell which).
Cap size about 25mm diameter.
Any help towards an ID would be greatly appreciated.
Regards

A quick search of the forums will reveal a lot of info about this species put forward by Andreas.

David | Hi David, Thanks for that - I've just searched for Phaeogalera dissimulans and browsed a few of the threads, and your suggestion looks quite good, (but I'm not sure if the leaves mine are on could have been Alder or Willow ).
As you know, I'm not well up on these things as yet, and don't know if mine is within the expected colour variation etc. for the species. (I will need to see a good few in the field - to get my eye in, so to speak).
Hopefully, Andreas / others may also respond.
Regards

| | | Re: Leaf Growing Fungus - ID Help Please. Hello,
although they look very Tubaria-alike, it is Phaeogalera dissimulans (I will need another two year to get customed to this name ....). The greasy appearance of the cap, the greyish touch of the gills and (important!) the crenulate gill edge make it clear to distinguish the two.
best regards,
Andreas

| | | Re: Leaf Growing Fungus - ID Help Please. Thanks Andreas, It's good to have this confirmed. And thanks again David, for initially steering me to Phaeogalera dissimulans.
