| | Fly Agaric Who knows where I can go to see fly agaric?
Is it rife in any particular place?
I live in east Hampshire.
No particular reason other than I think it looks amazing and have always wanted to see some
I feel left out, heh!

| | | Re: Fly Agaric Cant give you a particular place May. All I can say is they're associated with Birch. So if you look in an area with plenty of these, you may be lucky! |

| | | Re: Fly Agaric Thank you for replying Alan
I shall keep my eyes peeled for Birch trees.
My husband saw some fly agaric in someone's garden when he was delivering their post, but we didn't think it appropriate to take me into someone's private garden to see it!

| | | Re: Fly Agaric If I lived in Hampshire I would be spending my time in the New Forest - esp at this time of year! From my visits in the past no actual site jumps out - but anywhere heathy with bracken and birch trees should eventually produce Fly Agarics. As another thought - there is a very active and friendly Fungus Group in Hampshire (they will be on the web) I've been out with them shilst on holidays in the past - they are a great bunch - and I saw a lot of local specialities I would have missed without them. |

| | | Re: Fly Agaric I know nothing about funghi, in fact fly agaric is the only one I know the name of and what it looks like
I do so like the New Forest. That might be worth another visit soon too.
Actually, the most fungus I ever saw was at Goodwood race track, I swear you couldn't take more than a step or three without encountering huge patches, it was absolutely everywhere!

| | | Re: Fly Agaric Couple of years ago saw some in tiny London Wildlife Trust reserve called Gunnersbury Triangle which is stuck between Richmond + Ealing branches of District line tubes. A tiny oasis + yes there's plenty of birches. |

| | | Re: Fly Agaric We had lots in our garden last year, although I have not seen any yet this year. Yes, we also have birch trees, so that figures. It is probably the only fungus that I can identify correctly!
I have seen quite a lot of other fungus emerging in the last couple of weeks, but I have virtually gievn up trying to identify it. I have spent many hours thumbing through books and web sites, but usually don't get close to an ID.
May, if all else fails, you can always come here if any appear this year. I am probably not too far away from you (West Berkshire).
