| | | Morels 2009 Verpa conica emerging so time to look under Crataegus (hawthorn)folks,

they have eluded detection.

| | | Re: Morels 2009 Great news and great to see Verpa conica appearing for you again. I have a sneaky suspicion that Pauline will be along shortly, joining in with the hunt for Mitrophora semilibera. Good luck for Morels this year people.
I will be keeping an eye out for my Morchella elata, Mitrophora semilibera and obviously the one that only Stig finds, Morchella esculenta Good hunting |

I'll be having a quick look in a weeks time for the odd Morchella esculenta
If there anything like last year I may need to take a chain saw

have gained participants over the last year it will be interesting to see if more
finds are made, i certainly remember the amount of forlorn hunting that
happened last year.

| | | Re: Morels 2009 Just wondering about what type of habitat morels grow in. I presume its ancient woodland? Mind you I did find my first ever morel last year - growing immediately outside our back door!!
Thats a bit odd, the system has automatically linked to a very fine photo of morels! How ever did it know.... |

Cheers J.P. | I reckon on more people finding them this year JP. The recent wet weather may bring on an early crop too.
This weekend I'll check out signs of the bleach cup, which is always a good sign of the true morels appearing.

| | | Re: Morels 2009 I've been wondering if the weather will make a difference, as last year was
bad it's seems only reasonable to expect better this year.
Curiously i looked today to see if the Disciotis had appeared yet as per last
year but no it hadn't, ho hum plenty of time yet.

| | | Re: Morels 2009 I was miserable not finding Morels last year but this year I have already studied miles of moss covered logs and still not managed to find a Scarlet Elf Cup so I am already heading for a deep depression before the "M" season starts
Next year I might "cheat" and look where Pete has told me they have been found
