Fungi id
Hi folks, can anyone tell me what this one might be. Could it be Dryads saddle like the one in the Gallery??. These fungi were approx one foot across in size, but high in the tree so I could see the top. They were in a living and apparently healthy Chestnut tree. Thanks k9

Hallo,

I don't think so. The habit of the fruitbodies is not like a Polyporus squamosus and also the fruitbodies look quite hard. Like a giant Trametes gibbosa.
I don't know what it is, to be honest. May be something like Rigidoporus ulmarius?

I was thinking T. gibbosa but wasn't sure on the substrate of Chestnut
