| | | Possibly Stigmatolemma poriiforme on Beech Here is another from Clumber Park and on it's way to Kew.
Nick's suggested possibly Stigmatolemma poriiforme or now Resupinatus poriiformis
Again on Beech (wood) and quite easily overlooked!
All comments appreciated.

I'm quite sure that it is Merismodes anomalus.
best regards,
Andreas

except that I would call it Cyphellopsis anomala (Pers.) Donk I agree with Andreas
try convincing novice mycologists that this is an agaric!

| | | Re: Possibly Stigmatolemma poriiforme on Beech Hi all
I should have included this further email from Nick:
Further thoughts to last e-mail John - re: the possible 'Stigmatolemma' - there is actually one other thing this could be (I though of this literally as I pushed the send button !), namely Merismodes anomalus, this far more frequent than the Stigmatolemma but still probably under-recorded - they can of course be told apart microscopically, but macroscopically the Merimodes is more typically the colour of the thing in your photograph whereas the Stigmatolemma is usually a somewhat more greyish colour.
Team work at its best

I'm not sure, but here is a larger image:
You could start a new thread in the Insect forum if you wish.

it's a springtail - member of the group Collembola - see: Springtail - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
look at lichens on a wall and you can often see them with their babies . . . grazing like cattle . . . lovely things
