An image of the underside of the fungi along with upper view would help the
the experts be more confident on ID, i would suggest Tricholoma album as a possibility.

| | | Re: Help in Identification please. While things are relatively quiet on the fungi forum this thread presents an opportune moment to remind those who are seeking identifications from images they submit that, in order to maximize their chances of a result, they should provide as much information as possible regarding the following macroscopic features: Cap (pileus): diameter in mm; colour; shape of both young and old specimens; surface characteristics; description of margin. Flesh (context): colour and colour variations; thickness; odour and taste. Gills (Lamella): shape or development; colour; breadth; attachment to the stem; characteristics of the edges. (also the colour of spores deposited from a spore print if possible) Stem (stipe): size (length x width in mm); shape; nature of the surface (including colour, structure and veil remnants in the form of a ring if present); cross section characteristics; base features. Occurrence: solitary, grouped, clustered, cespitose etc.; the surrounding habitat; substrate on which the fruiting body is growing and/or associated tree/plant species; month of year when found.
Not all this detail is immediately evident or readily describable except with experience, especially to those new to finding fungi and wanting to know more about identification, but the more information provided the better the prospects of narrowing it down. Popular reference works supply the most common descriptive narratives and explanation of terms. Even then, in many cases, further microscopic analysis is needed for verification.
Above all don't be deterred from submitting your queries; it's the quickest way to learn!

| | | Re: Help in Identification please. Re my images of unidentified Fungi
Thank you for your comments
I must apologize that the images I currently have of various unidentified fungi are mostly single shot, they were taken some while ago and were more "for the image" rather that purely for Id purposes, in saying that I have become more interested in the individual Ids and now realise that more images and information is required for positive identification of many species. Its amazing how many different varieties can be seen even on a short walk up here in the Scottish Highlands.
Hopefully you will "bear with me" as they say when I can only give a single image for Id purposes.
Thanks again

| | | Re: Help in Identification please. This is the best place to nurture that new found fascination and as you will no doubt discover you have many fellow Wabbers north of the border supplying lots of interesting material especially in respect of species more acclimatized to the mountainous regions. Though don't be too disappointed if not every submission achieves a positive ID: It's by no means an exact science!
Enjoy your participation.
