| | | mycena & lbj for id please no 1/ this was found in needle litter in a small group in late november 08
could this be Mycena cinerella, cap approx10/15mm across, stem approx 60mm tall,
no2/ this was found in short grass, at edge of footpath between plantation on very young conifers and birch saplings in mid december 08
first guess was Pseudoclitocybe cyathiformis but the gills do not look right, cap 25mm across, stem 60/75mm tall

| | | Re: mycena & lbj for id please Hallo Brian,
1st could well be Mycena cinerella, but in my opinion could also be M. vulgaris. The stipe seems to be at least greasy, if not slimy, what would tend towards M. vulgaris. The very light grey cap coulor (if not too light by overexposition) would tend more towards M. cinerella.
2nd is a Clitocybe, but I can't say which one. May be something around Clitocybe metachroa, but the gills seem to be not enough greyish. At least I think it's nevertheless a species from the section/subgenus/genus Pseudolyophyllum.
Those Clitocybes are not to determine without notes as smell, ecology and also microscopical data (spores, pigments etc.)
best regards,
Andreas

Andreas | Hi Andreas. thanks for that, the picture of the Mycena is a little overexposed but the colour was a very light grey,
i'll settle for Clitocybe sp. for no2, as you say, theres not much chance of a full id without microscopy,
thanks, Brian. |
