| | | Re: Unidentified pyrenomycete from Clumber hi
nice to see some real fungi appearing on the site - -
I think this could be Peroneutypa scoparia; it often appears as Peroneutypa heteracantha in books
see: http://www.aranzadi-sciences.org/fil...acantha_F1.jpg
for a not too sharp image
cheers
Chris

| | | Re: Unidentified pyrenomycete from Clumber if you are happy with the ID I would put it on the A to Z it's a good image
we could come up with a suitable English name for it ( )
how about Dracula's Surgical Glove Fungus (or is that too sensible in the current climate of giving things vernacular names)
sorry being flippant here - 'slapped legs'

| | | Re: Unidentified pyrenomycete from Clumber I put the name into keyword and the first item was this connection, all the others are too technical for my little brain but I got the idea that it comes from Mexico. Could you give us some idea as to what timber and kind of woods we might find this species.
Wickapedia saise that, Eutypella scoparia, is a plant pathogen that causes Eutupa dieback on pecan trees.

Tanny | Hi Tanny
It can be found on dead branches of deciduous trees and on woody tissue of various plants. Probably often over looked and under recorded due to it's size.
