Apologies - didnt see that part - thought people would want to read more about it 
It was found in 2005 and after a few local experts could'nt work it out specimens were sent to Royal Botanical Garden Edinburgh where Roy Watling identified it - original specimens now found there.
Since then it has spread more and more - growing on bare earth, bare rock and twigs.

No problem Mal - does anyone know where else this occurs in the U.K, i heard Wiltshire and Gloucestershire - over the past 4 years it always occurs Feb/Mar - which i suppose could easily be overlooked as most people will not be out looking at this time?
A few other things from this site in the last month
Scarlet Elf Cup - still rather rare in Rochdale
Tripe Fungus - again not at all common in Rochdale
