| | | Fungi Foraging Hello
I'm new to the site today. I'm hoping to find details of foraging in and around the Surrey area. I'm based in Redhill / Reigate.
Can anyone help? Groups or individual course information welcome.
I'm in to wild food generally, and hoping to get another allotment soon. I would be interested in any / fungai wild food foraging / classes this year.
I look forward to hearing from you.

| | | Re: Fungi Foraging Hi Sherry! Welcome to WAB.
I used to be situated in Surrey (Farnham to be precise) when I was at University and I know of a few places you can try. You might have to stray into Hampshire to rendezvous with 'The Minley Mushketeers' who are a group based in Hants. They are part of the ABFG and if you'd like to know more about the group, wait for my good friends Cybershot and Capandbracket. I am a founding member of the group but my retreat to Norfolk has robbed me of time with them. I now forage on my own
You're in a good area for this hobby |

You're in a good area for this hobby | Though certainly not averse to collecting tasty edibles for the pan, a quick glance at the homepage fungi-of-hants-surrey-borders : Encouraging the recording of Fungi
will verify that 'forayers' rather than 'foragers' we be; more concerned with finding, identifying, recording and conserving the fungi than eating them. But all with an interest are welcome to join us.
Cheers

| | | Re: Fungi Foraging Hi Sherry and a warm welcome to WAB. I too am new to fungi but am on my own as there are no clubs nor individuals near me that I know of who are interested in fungi. I use a few Fungi reference books and WAB for information. The members on the fungi forum are brilliant sources of info and are all very friendly so don't be afraid to ask.

Hi Sherry,
I take forays in the Puttenham area and on Wimbledon Common. You could check out my dates on ...fungi to be with.... I also run courses for beginners, although these are held on Hampstead Heath.
Hope this helps

I too am a very keen forager for fungi and wild food in general. My interest in fungi has gone a little further than just culinary which is why I joined up with Cybershot et al (mushketeers and fungiofhants/surrey borders). The're a friendly bunch, I'm sure you would be welcome to join in.

Could the muskateers let keep me posted on meetings? Thanks.

Sherry | Hello again Sherry fungi-of-hants-surrey-borders : Encouraging the recording of Fungi
If you sign up to the above FSHB/Mushketeers Yahoo group it will automatically keep you abreast of our activities; now in full swing and looking forward to the appearance of Calocybe gambosa - St George's Mushroom, which, contradictory to tradition, arrived in this area around St Patrick's day last year

We have started a Facebook group and public Google map to promote the use of "Pick From The Park" and, after a great tweet by the National Trust, things are really starting to gain a head of steam.
Why not head over to the Facebook Group we have created and take a look. Pick From The Park | Facebook
