| | | Mycena sp for identification please These were Found back in November at edge of a footpath between conifer plantations, in grass/ moss , could possibly have been on buried wood/debris, growing within 6ft of each other
No1/ cap approx 20mm across , 70mm tall,
No2/ cap approx 15mm across 60/70mm tall, not at all sure about this one being a Mycena?

| | | Re: Mycena sp for identification please hi Mycena 'in the field' is not my strong point, but for what it's worth, I think the top one could be Mycena inclinata (in which case on buried wood)
I agree with you about the lower one not being a Mycena, but wouldn't care to comment further . . .
Chris

| | | Re: Mycena sp for identification please Hallo,
I had also the thought of Mycena inclinata for the first, but growing on burried wood is quite exceptional for this species, also the grey gills.
The 2nd could in my opinion be Clitocybe ditopa.
best regards,
Andreas

| | | Re: Mycena sp for identification please There are not many Mycena with yellow/orange stipe. One that grows in conifer plantations is this size often with an orange margin on the cap, orange fibrils at the base of the stipe is M. aurantiomarginata.

Mal | hi Mal
doesn't the ' aurantiomarginata' refer to the gill-edge?; granted most of the gills are damaged here, the complete ones don't seem to have a coloured edge - or is that just me?
cheers
Chris

I know most of the gills have been eaten but don't the gills towards the outer edge of the specimen in the second photo show some signs of orange

| | | Re: Mycena sp for identification please what about yellowlegged mycena or does that not have a partly orange stipe. Maybe this could be due to age etc. |

| | | Re: Mycena sp for identification please Mycena epipterygia is quite a dainty and delicate species, and it's generally much more pale than this. Like a 'baby' yellow- unlike this
It's a puzzler. If Mal's puzzled, I can't see much hope for this one | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
