Fungi found on dead tree indentification
hi

i'm new to the forums and i've been trying to find online what sort of fungi i took a picture of on a tree in Mull. I've been googling online to try and find it but i am still no closer, so i am hoping someone will be able to help. Thanks in advance

Hello Choink, welcome to WAB.

Without a shot from above, the options are limited for suggestions. It could be Laetiporus sulphureus, but I wouldn't hedge a bet on it. Could also be a Polyporus, but I personally couldn't take it any further.

thanks nick. i couldn't really get above it due to the height it was up the tree. i was just struck by how amazing it looked and got some really nice shots of it.

I'll agree with Chicken of the woods. I thought dryads saddle at first but that usually is at the bottom of trees right.
