| | | Hello, can you identify this please??? Hi all.
I wouldn't say I'm at all knowlegeable but in the last few years I have turned an interest in just photographing Fungi for pleasure, into what I would call amatuer mycology.
I know what I know i guess, if that makes sense. I just really enjoy finding, photographing and identifying. For me fungi really is the most important of the five kingdoms
But this one has me stumped any ideas????? |

I have a similar interest in Fungi but I don't have a clue what that one is. Some of our fungi enthusiasts will ID it for you soon though.

just sorry that the picture hasn't come out too well. Just have to squint and press face to screen
This one was found on the cornish north coast trail, near st.agnes, in some heather. Thats all I have on it tho as didn't take the picture, a friend did.
Have been meaning to join this forum for some time but studies have got in the way. Anyway, glad to be here and I look forward to annoying you all with more unidentified fungal treasure!!! |

| | | Re: Hello, can you identify this please??? it might be hygrocybe nivea - snowy waxcap. Its common on lawns and gardens during the autumn. As it matures it flattens out and turns this manky brown colour as shown in the photo |

| | | Re: Hello, can you identify this please??? found a few simiar examples of meadow wax caps, when they upturn and go crinkly like that.
this might sound stupid but it almost looks like an ear fungi when the photo is a bit bigger. The pic doesn't seem to show a discernable stem either?? Frilly edges are almost chanterelle like perhaps??
hmmmmm, many thanks for the ideas thus far folks |

| | | Re: Hello, can you identify this please??? Hi Spoon,
I'm afraid that making absolutely any suggestions of species of even genus would be complete guess work. There simply isn't enough information in your picture to be able to diagnose anything. Picking and turning it over to photograph the gills would have helped I think. In perspective, it's like being asked to ID a damselfly by its head alone- sorry that we can't get you the ID |

| | | Re: Hello, can you identify this please??? i didn't think it would be easy. And as i said, i didn't take the photo, so I only have second hand info from the person who actually found it.
anyhoo, I got much better suggestions here than any I had, so thanks all. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
