I've noticed there's been a lot of discussion on colour variations recently, so I thought I'd throw this into the mix... 
Pretty sure it's Pleurotus Ostreatus, I stumbled upon it today (on dead fagus) and didn't have a camera to hand, so I brought a piece home.
The odd thing was there were lots of pale specimens growing with this charcoal grey (almost black) cluster. 
As some of you know I'm pretty new to all this, so I was wondering if this is a common occurence? Would be interested to hear your comments.

I have found them dark grey but never that DARK.

So I found something vaguely interesting? (at last!  )
Might try and pop back later for an in situ photo if I can remember where it was. (Must admit to being a little lost at the time)
