| | | Re: Fungi ID please looking like blushing bracket Pete - daedelopsis confragosa.
they turn more reddish on top as they mature, as yours are doing I think - when fresh, if you run your finger on the pores, they turn pinkish - they blush!
But I await the experts with trepidation these days!!!!
Cheers
Ken

Ken | You guys are just too fast. By the time I'd got to my books, looked through, and made up my mind, your answers were already here.
Well - at least I can console myself in the knowledge that I was actually in agreement with you.
Regards

| | | Re: Fungi ID please The amount that you have learned in the past few weeks, and the methods of which you've chosen to distribute it should be enough consolation. It's very impressive, and no need to be modest either mate. In fact I've noticed everyone on this forum just getting better and better. It's really exciting |

It's really exciting | I totally agree Nick - its pretty good when you get fairly basic stuff and the ultra in-depth we also have on the forums - it allows and encourages both complete beginner and expert to join in. Terrific. What a resource.
And also not defamatory either, but encouraging!
I see no axes to grind with the fungi people.
Hugs
Ken

Ken | I have to agree. Some of the stuff that Chris and Andreas bring to the forum goes straight over my head, but the fact that these people and all the other regular fungi forum members are willing to help beginners & newcomers along without any sort of "I know more than you do" type attitudes is a credit to everyone concerned. Every post I read on here draws me just a little bit deeper into this wonderful (and often frankly weird) world of fungi.
Best regards

Mike. | i totally agree with you Mike, when i first joined wab, all i wanted was to be able to id as many of my finds as i could, without getting embroiled in all the technical and scientific aspects of it,
but i now realise that you have to delve that little bit deeper into the "behind the scenes" sort of stuff with every find you make,
most of it will always be way over my head, but all credit to those who contribute the more technical aspects of the fungi forum, without their unselfish help we would all have very short lists of "definites" and a very long list of "probables",
you just cant have too much knowledge, especially with fungi,
and as you say , what a great bunch of people they are.
