| | | Identification of Fungi Is this a pleurotus species?
Sorry about the bad photo. These were taken on a large log in an animal enclosure at Chester Zoo. It was too decomposed to get an ID.
Is this B. adusta?
Bad photo explanation same as above. |

Really good book explaining things in plain English with clear illustrations.
Do you have/rcommend the other volumes?
Been playing around with the old microscope trying to improve techniques etc.... OH going mad as there are slides/mushrooms/equipment all over the place
Think I need to shop for a bit of equipment before I Delve further- I don't have a micrometer, also one of the objective lenses appears to be broken.
Do lenses come in a standard size? ie can I screw any into the fitting?
Cheers, Nick. |

I also have books 3 & 4 to identify to genus with Macroscopic features which I used quite a lot.
On the other question I would say that they can differ so you would need to ensure a compatible lens before purchase and you do need to be able to calibrate your scope to get accurate measurements of spores.

| | | Re: Identification of Fungi OK thanks for your help Mal, I'm sure I'll have more questions when I'm all set up....the callibration instructions in the book you recommended seem pretty staight forward though.
Sorry for screwing up your thread KT!
