Nick | No Problems Nick, Jordan only lists two Species of Hygrophoropsis, neither of which has white flesh, so unless this is a different species, i would think that Andreas is most likely to be right,
i dont know if it being a dried out group that is resposible for the colour difference, but i suppose thats one possibility, and if i remember rightly, the year i found them was the one we had something like a summer and it was quite dry at the time i found them,
thats one more i can strike of the unknown list, (and move to the probables )

p:s this is one instance where reading my books did not help to much KT, although it did point me in the right direction, |

I found H aurantiaca var pallida a couple of years ago and that had a white/cream flesh but is much more substantial and is, as the name suggests pale (in the a-z)

Mal | Hello Mal, after looking at the H.pallida in the Gallery, it is much paler and more substantial than my specimens,
my ones seem to fit H.aurantiaca in every respect apart from the flesh colour much better than for H.pallida,
it looks like a case of it being "H.aurantiaca- probably, but could be H.pallida, but could also be someting else," sort of scenario
thanks,
Brian. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
