| | | Fungi for ID assistance Seem to be a number of things growing on here, you'll have to click to enlarge it to see them all:
Tentatively
1 - Top Right Dacrymyces stillatus - the one I'm most sure about but under the micrsoscope it didn't seem to match the spore pictures in FoS - there just seemed to be long chains of cells joined together and there didn't seem to be the normal hyphae you'd see under a micrsocope.
2 - Bottom Left Could this be Tremella encephala (a nice specimen of Stereum sanguinolentum is just out of shot below number 2)
I didn't notice the next two until I got the photo onto the computer and I'm not even sure they are fungi - they're tiny you'll need the photo at it's largest size for them.
3 - Looks a bit like the picture of Stypella vermiformis in FoS - is this a possibility or is it just debris of some sort?
4 - Tiny doughnut shaped black dots - no idea about this at all - is it fungal?
Any help much appreciated as always.

| | | Re: Fungi for ID assistance They were all growing on a cut stump of Scots Pine (I labeled the photo in the image Gallery but didn't transfer that to the forum thread ). Because of that I ruled out Tremella mesenterica - I thought it was only found on deciduous trees.

| | | Re: Fungi for ID assistance Hallo,
1+2 are both Dacrymyces stillatus. 1 is the anamorph and 2 the teleomorph.
Not sure wether 3 is a fungus, looks like remnants of some insects.
4 Looks like a pyrenomycet, but can't see clear enough to be sure. Even if I would see clearer, I couldn't tell which species anyway ...
best regards,
Andreas

best regards,
Andreas | Many thanks Andreas - I had wondered if the first two were the same species, and the other two were just for curiosity sake. I'm always amazed at what you see when you look really closely at something.
