| | | Re: some fungi for ID Hallo,
the first one is Lactarius rufus. At least the middle fotos shows, that it is a Lactarius and the right picture is a 100% rufus.
2nd species is a Russula, as KT said. May be it's R. atropurpurea, but it is a bit too little, the stipe too white and fragile. May be it is R. atrorubens or something like that, may also be it is R. laricina or cessans. Or still something else .... Without knowing at least the colour of the spore print and the taste, there is not much to do often.
3rd is Laccaria laccata, as KT had the strong feeling to.
best regards,
Andreas

Andreas | don't no about this one the gills seem to be to widely spread apart for it to be a Laccaria laccata, plus I don't think the habitat is right for them it's an old peat works that has been flooded and is now full of large lakes and reed beds and they were found next to a very boogy area |

Andreas | Agree with Lactarius rufus. The RussulaI would consider R. nitida though agree totally with your remark on Russula in general. Often very difficult without spore colour, taste, and many microscopic details. L. laccata or L. proxima for the 3rd pic.

| | | Re: some fungi for ID the 3rd one seems very laccaria, theyre so similar (deceiver!), but seems to be missing the sort of stripyness on the cap that can be seen in laccata -
certainly jordan describes proxima as a boggy area fungi.

Ken | not got jordan it was out of stock but i'll have it soon looking in phillips the gills look more like the ones on L. striatula which are widely spaced, looking at both laccata and proxima gill look to close together |

Hallo Ken,
your foto shows Tubaria hiemalis/furfuracea, not Laccaria.
What concerns Laccaria proxima, this is distinctly bigger and more rubust than laccata and the stipe looks quite rough, like sawed wood that has never been polished, but dark brownred.
The Laccarias from pic 3 above may be are not laccata, but they are certainly not proxima.
best regards,
Andreas

I bow to superior knowledge, but I am struggling a little with tubaria as the substrate is not wood chippy as tubaria might be on, it was rough woodland ground more normal for laccaria, the stems were often bent/kinked and flattened like laccaria and the stems were hollow too - are none of these more distinctive for laccaria?
I am of course not disagreeing, but questioning to learn - I know you all appreciate that!
Cheers all
Ken
