You won't get much help with identifications if they take pride of place on the shelf still wrapped in cellophane

You'll just have to copy them out by hand so you've got a user copy. By the time you've finished that you should really be an expert ... And I don't mind looking after the proper set for you .... Alternatively you'll have to acquire a second set, and keep one for best. I know someone who does that .....
Actually that's why I'm really glad that the keys for the Funga Nordica are also on the Mycokey disc, that way the book won't fall to pieces too quickly.

Melanie | I've printed out a copy of a couple of the more frequently used keys and then I won't mind scribbling extra notes on them.

| | | Re: Fungi of Switzerland congrats on getting F of S
don't be tempted to treat them as 'gospel' however . . . I'm sure some of the asco determinations are incorrect (for example, in my humble opinion that is not Mollisia ligni in a million years!) and I would certainly not use them for identifying Hebeloma having been with Jan Vesterholt when he ran through them and commented on the images; also David Boertmann in his book on Hygrocybe comments on around 10 of the F of S entries which he is not happy about . . .
but I am being unnecessarily churlish, I use these wonderful books virtually daily and please do use them David! after all they're not exactly field-guides to be accidentally dropped into a pond as you carry them around
just keep them away from any stains . . . .
best
Chris
