some sources put it as synonym for Stereum spadicea, so we have the
common problem of which is current name.

no problem with the name. Stereum has been used a long time for all flat growing crusts, but - as in most ancient genera - it has been split of more and more. Chondrostereum purpureum also has been a Stereum, and Lopharia spadicea as well. So Stereum spadiceum is the same species, but only an older name. Older names are correct and valid as well, they are only not the ones which are actually in use. But the sight of things may change one day ....
