Found this growing on a fallen log, not sure what it is, though it does look a bit like squashed dead man's fingers.

I think a likely suspect for this one is Cramp Balls (otherwise known as King Alfred's Cakes) - Daldinia concentrica

This looks very much like Birch Wood-wart - Hypoxylon multiforme

yeah cramp balls are usually roughly spherical but these are a bit more weirdly shaped so. I 'll go with H. multiforme
