| | | Podocypha Multizonata I was just wondering what the status is of podoscypha multizonata, zoned rosette.
My Philips says it is rare and scriber uploaded a photo of it and added the keywords "very rare"
Should I be glad I saw it in a local park and should I send in a proper report to the local natural history societies?

| | | Re: Podocypha Multizonata wow! that looks like a pretty rare fungus for the North. I am on the NW coast (near abouts) So who would I send the record to because I don't see any dots in my area. |

| | | Re: Podocypha Multizonata The thing about NBN is that as reliable I'm sure the records are, some would go unrecorded if they're not seen. It may have been in your area, it may not. First I'd suggest going to Your Local Trust and look it up by the nearest postcode to the location you found it in. Then, perhaps email them and send the photo as well as giving the grid reference of their location. Lastly, if it is rare - at least up that end of the country - don't draw too much attention to it or someone may kick it out the ground - I've seen it happen!
Good luck |

| | | Re: Podocypha Multizonata I would send the record to your local Environmental Records Centre (do a search for yours on Google). I think each County has one. I keep a record of everything (flora and fauna) I see every year and send them the details (with any photos if I have them). The records are used by researchers, councils, schools, etc. If you want to keep it's whereabouts private you can ask them not to disclose it (which they will do). Really worthwhile to send your records to them (it can help councils decide whether they should/shouldn't accept certain planning applications... and help protect vulnerable species).
