| | two fungi for ID Is this an old faded dead mans fingers? sorry couldnt get closer. Xylaria Longipes or polymorpha?
This one was on a dropped oak twig - it looks like Dichomatus (trametes?) campestris, but Jordan describes that as rare, though WAB says its probably rarely reported and I wonder when somethings described as rare if that what I have seen, given my inexperience!
So I inadvertently put it in the Gallery rather than just image library, but I want a better shot really to live in there, so I hope I'm right or I will need to grovel! !
Any confirmation/advice from these pics?
Cheers
Ken

They could indeed be old bark, but there are lots of old black mycelia around it, so I think its a fungus! But I will check closer next week.
the other is resupinate so I dont see daedalea being right.
let see what other ideas there are out there!

Mike. | Thats a good point Mike, but the size was too big for candlesnuff - I forgot to give more detail, my fault - they are about 3 to 4'' long these things - that seems a bit on the big side for candlesnuff? ? ?

| | | Re: two fungi for ID Oh it appears the fungus in the photo is a crusty fungus rather than bracket so I shall withdraw the daedalea species. |

Mike. EDIT - Just seen your above post - If yours were 3 -4 inches tall then I would agree with you.
