Maybe Velvet Shank?

Once again a photo that I attempted to post yesterday, now working!

Lancashire Lad said that he thought this fungus may be Velvet Shank, does everyone agree?

Well I agree that it's a possibility, but cannot be sure without that vital shot of the underside

Well the stem does attach to the underside and shows the attachment of the gills too, which is a prominent factor in identifying Flammulina velutipes

If it is still there next time I go I will try and get an underside shot, something I will remember with my other photo's in future.

I saw your post yashca, and later on I decided that it was indeed Velvet Shank (tried to find your thread but it was deleted), so that's my guess.

Hi Yashca,

Your photos on the (Unmentionable ) external site were much larger, and gave a better resolution. These on WAB now appear to be 640 x 480 pixels.

For future reference, if you could possibly resize to say 1280 x 960 (or something near) it might be easier to get ID's.

Nick - on Yashca's original larger pic yesterday, the stipe of one of the specimens does look to have the velvety appearance of F. velutipes.

Understood Mike, I wasn't sure without that visible characteristic

If it gets removed or not, I've got the velvety stipe burned into my mind now and I'd like to confirm F. velutipes
