I can't see that there's anything else that I've ever seen that these might be. I suppose you could put it down to an atypical, frost-bitten bunch. Frost does seem to have an effect on size and proportion of developing specimens so that might fit, but they are definitely large!
I stand by original suggestion and that they're just atypical, but I eagerly await the expert advice  | Hi Nick, - Just been doing a bit of Googling for P. leptocephalus and apart from the height, the images found do tally with your ID. Plus P. leptocephalus has the common name Blackfoot Polypore - which definitely fits in this case, as the lower parts of all of their stipes are black.
I guess no one told them not to grow more than 30mm tall
