| | | Frustrating Flammulina For the past two weeks I've had to look at this little outcrop on the other side of the track from the platform while I wait for my train. As I'm very partial to them it's just a little bit frustrating.
Let's hope those piles of woodchip don't start sprouting morels in the Spring or I really will be tempted to make a dash for it!
Sorry about the rubbish photo but I wasn't going to get out my tripod - think my fellow passengers thought I was strange enough already.

| | | Re: Frustrating Flammulina How can you be sure that these are Flammulina? They might be Kuehneromyces mutabilis
EDIT; Actually, funnily enough you joke about Morels growing there, but they're apparently likely to pop up at the sides of railway lines. |

| | | Re: Frustrating Flammulina What you can't see in the blurry photo is that they have those distinctive dark velvety stipes so I'm 99% sure.
Sounds like I should keep an eye out in the spring. Maybe I can develp some kind of long distance grabbing device!

| | | Re: Frustrating Flammulina I think they're pretty tasty fired in butter and garlic. Have also (I think - mu Japanese is not too hot) had the elongated white version in Japan. Anyone know how they make them grow that way? |
