| | | Five for id please Once again, sorry about the quality of the images. I must get a better camera soon. The flash overwhelms the subject.
1. Sarcoscypha coccinea?
2. Is this a slime mould?
3 4 & 5. Overexposed brackets. Could not be certain what they were growing on.
Thanks in advance. |

| | | Re: Five for id please Well it's Sarcoscypha alright, and a young one at that BUT microscopy is needed to tell the two apart. As far as I know, there are no macroscopic features that distuinguish S. austriaca and S. coccinea from each other. |

Thanks in advance. | Hi Brocsman
1 As Ken and Nick stated ... See Sarcoscypha austriaca vs Sarcoscypha coccinea
2 Possibly young Ascocoryne sarcoides - non hymenial stage
3 & 4 Smokey bracket - Bjerkandera adusta
5 Hairy Stereum - Stereum hirsutum

| | | Re: Five for id please Many thanks for the quick replies. I'm happy to settle for Sarcoscypha sp. until I buy my microscope next year. I'd never seen it on such a long stipe (probably the wrong word) before.
And there is certainly still plenty out there to find. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
