I found this at the same site as my recent M. melaleuca post, (an interesting site, an old quarry next to a disused railway, currently used for cutting and storage of logs also host to bee hives and with a masive old beech stump in the middle). It was found on fresh wood chips and sawdust. I think it a Peziza sp but which one I do not know. Any Peziza experts who can help?

Pete | Probably Peziza vesiculosa Pete, but would require microscopy to be certain.

hi
in my experience vesiculosa is usually a dung-inhabiting species, but FJ is absolutely right about the need for microscopy, sadly, there are several species that look rather like this one
