Good luck!
John | thanks! Ill go and have another look as soon as possible

| | | Re: Still plenty to find Just to give an idea on what you may find at this time of year here is a collection from Sunday 14th December 2008.
I was confident of 20 species but found over 30 before it got too dark!
Found at Eckington wood and all within 10 metres from tracks.
There’s still plenty out there

| | | Re: Still plenty to find Sharp eyes and there is always something to find. A good time of year to get to grips with the more obscure.
Why not see who can find the most species on the 1st of Jan - a bit like a load of birders do - an annual event like this could get people looking that bit harder. Be interesting anyway to see what people come up with. Challenge set - any takers.
Maybe a new thread should be started so the scores can be posted. Just a thought!
In fact I'll do one now.

| | | Re: Still plenty to find Have been pondering an ID for these two for a while John, and the closest I can get is to say that the one on the right has characteristics matching Collybia. The gills match up and the stipe is of that 'odd' shape, if you see what I mean.
The fungus on the left looks like it's being attacked by a fungus loving fungus |

| | | Re: Still plenty to find Found some wood blewits at the weekend, well that's what I believe them to be? Did not take them for the pot as they were right next to a main road and also I wasn't 100% on an ID.
Thoughts from me rubbish pic? |

| | | Re: Still plenty to find Well I went to my favourite grassland site on Christmas Eve ... still quite a lot on there, a new flush of Entolomas, still some Hygrocybes coming through, as well as the Galerinas which never give up (I'll get round to iding them when the others stop!), and the Cystodermas, and Collybia butracea which also never seems to give up. So provided the weather doesn't get too cold before Jan 1st, I should get quite a reasonable list off there ...
This was a rather pretty mauve and blue Hygrocybe psittacina
(I haven't worked out yet why some of my pictures seem to lose a lot of detail when posted, yet others don't ... any ideas why?)

| | | Re: Still plenty to find After a bad ‘man’ cold during the run up to Christmas, it was good to visit Clumber on the 27th December.
Still many species to be found but lacking good photographic groups of Velvet Shank - Flammulina velutipes. These were really at their best this time last year!
Orange Peel Fungus - Aleuria aurantia is in large numbers on the Thoresby borders and Ascocoryne sarcoides (not to be confused with A. cylichnium) seems to be having a good fruiting season.
There’s even a few Pholiota fruit bodies high up on some beech trees on Clumber lane if anyone passes with a crane
I’ll still visit my local patch (Westfield Plantation) on the day but I’m confident of …. Double figures
