6) think it might be mycena galericulata (but it is a mycena after all) | Hi KT, not to sure on your first two but no5 was only included for interest ,not expecting an id on the original fungi or the passenger its carrying (no doubt someone will know what they are ) |

| | | Re: Pick up sticks I agree with KT- there's every possibility that this could be as he says, S. citrinum. I've seen it growing in odd places like this |

I've seen it growing in odd places like this | there is a strong resemlance to S.citrinum, and i have also found them on logs before, but always in collected debri/soil on the actual log, whereas this one is growing straight out of the log itself,
but for want of a better explanation, i would tend to agree with Nick and KT
(This one had also dissapeared when i went back for another look later, so cant get an update on it with the growth) |

Andreas | Hello Andreas,
thats one i had not considered, both Jordan and Philips describe P.rufa as being orange or buff coloured,
but a search of the web for P.rufa came up with a few similar coloured ones to my find,

Brian. | Hallo Brian,
Phlebia rufa is said to be quite variable and shall even imitate Ph. merismoides (= Ph. radiata) sometimes. I have not found it in this colour, but have to admit that I don't care too much on these things. But when having this characteristic greyish-rose colour, it seems to be always Ph. rufa. It's not the only colour this Phlebia can have, but the only Phlebia that can have this colour
best regards,
Andreas |

Andreas | Hi Andreas, thats very helpfull, i will put this one down as Phlebia rufa-probably,
the colour variations of Phlebia sp as a whole tend to get me guessing as to which is which, perhaps another ten years and i might be getting there
thanks for your help,
Brian. |
