| | | Re: Sulphur tuft or Stopharia aurantiaca? These are typical Stropharia aurantiaca as found this time of year on wood chip. The drab colour seems to reflect winter somehow
Microscopically, they appear very similar to those found in summer / early autumn in beds of wood chip. However 'native' Stropharia aurantiaca found on (typical) dead beech bark always appears more vibrant in colour ... Quite odd really!
