I submitted another one for ID a few weeks back and it was IDed as inocybe sp.

| | | Re: Brown mush room ID The second is not Inocybe, it is Melanoleuca. The cap shape is quite odd but you do tend to see it more in this genus. The stipe is what does it for me as it has the effect of wood grain or in myco-lingo, 'Longitudinal fibres'. An umbonate cap is another pointer towards this genus. |

EDIT; Just looked in some books and can see species in the genus with gills this dark. The smaller upturned specimen in KT's photograph shows spore evidence at the top of the stipe which is white. With that, I'm sticking with Melanoleuca
