| | | One Fungi for ID please Sorry this is a bit past its best. I'm keen to know what it is because I found it literally in my own back yard. Ths soil is mainly wormcasts on old brick paving.
Thanks. |

| | | re: One Fungi for ID please Wow - never even heard of that before. The photos I've found for Tubaria show clear striation on the cap, which doesn't seem to be present on my (pathetic) specimen. It does have a fibrous appearance. The spore print is coming out a rusty brown, and the cap is drying much paler than the photo.
Thanks for the input. |

| | | re: One Fungi for ID please LOL, so do you think it could be Tubaria? Have you honed it down a species if so? |

| | | Re: One Fungi for ID please Judging by the photos I've seen romagnesiana looks right, although I'm not clear if this is a synonym for hiemalis. Courtecuisse describes this as "fading when dry" which is exactly what has happened. |

| | | Re: One Fungi for ID please T. romagnesiana is what some UK workers used to call pellucida - though to others pellucida referred to a fungus we would treat as T. furfuracea
while I consider T. hiemalis to be separable from T. furfuracea (based on the characters of the cystidia on the gill edge) the UK experts seem reluctant to distinguish the two
to be on the safe side I would call it Tubaria furfuracea (that too fades as it dries - so do most Tubarias . . . )
hope that's not too confusing
best wishes
Chris
