| | Gloephyllum Sepiarum / Conifer MazeGill is it? Hi Guys, I had a good day Saturday at Sirhowy Valley. As usual I'm not sure on names but have attempted some ... so there's some work for you guys to confirm / correct my guesses and let me know what the others are if possible.
I'm getting better, have taken some undersides aswell !
There are a lot more but I'll pace myself!
Cheers |

I'd say that this (unless there is something existent that has the aesthetics of that specimen) is unidentifiable due to decay. |

| | | Re: Gloephyllum Sepiarum / Conifer MazeGill is it? Hallo,
just fell over the picture of the 2nf fungus in the Gallery :-)
I'm quite certain that this is a Deciever (Laccaria laccata) Those decievers (also the violet one) not so rarely grow in teratologic forms, which give them a morel-like outfit.
best regards,
Andreas

| | | Re: Gloephyllum Sepiarum / Conifer MazeGill is it? I would second your suggestion of species Andreas, definitely. I just have trouble coming to terms with such a fungus growing on the substrate shown. I have images of wretched, gnarled old Laccaria specimens like this L. proxima; |

best regards,
Andreas | Great stuff Andreas, this just may well have confirmed an hypothesis put forward by Fungi Ken and Mykonik to an old unresolved query of mine when I was very green around the gills (or should I have said pink) LOL : Cauliflower Fungi
Cheers
David
P.S. Having Googled 'teratologic', thanks also for expanding my vocabulary

| | | Re: Gloephyllum Sepiarum / Conifer MazeGill is it? Hallo David,
yes, this are exactly the forms I meant with teratologic forms.
But in your case I'm not quite sure if it really is a Deciever. Judging from the colour especially of the gills, which on my screen are a bit too brownish and judging also from the habit (wood chips or something like that) it could possibly be a teratologic form of Tubaria hiemalis/furfuracea. I have found that in this species too.
best regards,
Andreas | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
